this evening while at walmart, we wandered into the automotive department. While there 3 young ladies around 22-23 years old enter the picture. I finially couldn't take it anymore when one of the young ladies states "one of these must work" - normally this would not be concerning except in one had she had a can of tire repair and in the other a can of AC repair.
*sigh* - I couldn't take anymore and finally asked what they were trying to do.

The response was "She has a 'chip' in her radiator and it keeps leaking steam". (note: I am now mentally beating my head against the wall). Deep Breath. Okay - those wont work. If you can see and get to the hole use JB weld to patch it.

The young lady then picks up a bottle of brake fluid, looks at us and says so i need antifreeze to put in it too - right *oh god*

I start to open my mouth and one girl goes "I know how to work on my car, but I don't know much about hers" - the look of distain should have burned her skin off but somehow idiots seem immune.

Okay - back to the owner of the car. 1)let the car cool, 2)mix the JB weld and apply to the hole, 3)leave the car alone for 24 hours, 4) you can put water in the radiator - it will be fine, 5) if the patch doesn't work - take it to a shop.

Next question - do I use both tubes of the JB weld. *Hang head* - you need to mix them, just follow the directions on the back of the package

next comment - is a hole in the hose attached to the radiator normal. *Shaking head and walking away* listening to M go into the description on how to cut it off and reattach it

hopefully they will google "how to"

the evening started with purpose, find trash can and hamper for the new bathroom. J and I set off on our adventure not being thrilled with the hampers thus far, we ventured into TJ Maxx - while nothing hamper like jumped out we found their discount bin of miss-spent toys that would either perplex or frighten most.

The chick / ducky thing was large enough for a grown man to ride - which brought giggles from an older woman passing by.

The scaries was the clown that when you pulled the nose it played music - so in order to hear the pretty music you must mutilate the clown - it was awful and hysterical all at the same time.

okay - for those who have been to my house you know about the evil pink bathroom - when we moved in 10 years ago I walked in and said "that's gotta go".

The visual - you walk in, there is dirty beige carpet. to the right is the tub and shower enclosure - the tub is 1970's pink, the enclosure tiled in the same color, just past that is the toilet - also pink. behind the door to the left is a built in linen closet with a divider wall. just beyond that is the vanity - also tiled in pink.

The walls are covered with a pink, pink, yellow pinstripe wallpaper. For sanity's sake I painted that white before we moved in.

9 years and 11 months later - I went to the shop and retrieved a sledgehammer and cro-bar. There is nothing as therapeudic as destroying something so hated.

Tile gone
Vanity gone
toilet gone
divider wall gone

over the past month I have done demolition, plumbing (that didn't leak), electrical (that shocked him not me), painted (the walls along with myself), tiled, put in a new toilet, refinished the bath & enclosure and only threw tools twice.

Now I have a wonderful, open, soothing bathroom retreat. let the 12 month countdown to the next home improvement project begin :-)

Sitting around a fire with friends. While surrounded by mundane tents, there was a moment kneeing by the fire looking up at what only could be a Valkyrie of old smiling down on me. Watching the sparks from the fire float up through the limbs of an ancient oak with the stars shining down from the deep background of night unblemished by a single wisp of cloud.

It is a moment when all sounds faded and time slipped away - i can still see it now as clear as if I had a photo......

Ukiyo is a rather impetuous urban culture that has bloomed in popularity. Although the Japanese were more strict and had many prohibitions it did not affect the rising merchant class and therefore became a floating art form that did not bind itself to the normal ideals of society.

People that chose Ukiyo-e art tend to be more simplistic yet elegant. They don't care much about new style but are comfortable in creating their own. They like the idea of living for the moment and enjoy giving and receiving pleasure. They may be more agreeable than other people and do not like to argue. They do not mind following traditions but are not afraid to move forward to experience other ideas in life. They tend to enjoy nature and the outdoors. They do not mind being more adventurous in their sexual experiences. They enjoy being popular and like being noticed. They have their own unique style of dress and of presenting themselves. They may also tend to be more business oriented or at the very least interested in money making adventures. They might make good entrepreneurs. They are progressive and adaptable.

Take What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test at HelloQuizzy

The Trip

So about two months ago ysabela and the unseeliepixie introduced this whole steampunk stuff....well that led to the idea of skipping out on coronation and going to Dragoncon. We have all wanted to go for years and it just seemed like the thing to do.

So on Friday morning 5 of us piled into my pathfinder and rolled into Jax to pick up #6 and so our adventure began. Some of you may know that my hubby has ZERO direction sense - there are days when I am surprised he can navigate his way home, so last Xmas I got him a GPS - this strange peice of technology has been since dubbed "Crazy Jane". Crazy Jane was our guide on this marvelous trip to Atlanta - well not to trod the most well known, fastest, safest, minimal banjo music route - Jane took us through the "High Tech Corridor of Georgia" -I swear we could here the banjos at time which encouraged us drive faster. The metropolis along this area included "lumber city", "mcrae", "alma" amoung others - really if you haven't heard of these places you should really look them up. I never knew "vinyl" was part of the techological revolution.

By hour 5 we were all a little punchy - the commentary was so funny I didn't think I could keep the truck on the road. It got so bad Ysabela started a notebook with some of our favorite quotes (hint, hint - maybe we can get some of out of context theater from our trip posted)

Favorite comment: ...that's because you are a materialistic whore.....
Favorite odd site: the Lumbercity Meat Market and Baptist church which was rivaled by the "Backdoor Market"
Favorite overheard conversation: Hey you broke my Hanna Montana lip gloss ring. You know she is legal in Korea.................. To the duo who kept up this conversation while we were waiting in line - thank you - I haven't laughed that hard in a long time
Favorite strangers to pop up: Dogboy and (long lost) Killian (who is now bald but still dammed cute)

Jane finally decided that we could rejoin civilization and get onto I-75. From there we made it into Atlanta and went to the Georgia Aquarium - for anyone who likes water dwelling critters - I highly recommend the trip. 8 million gallons of water, 4 whale sharks - need I say more. I could stare at the 80'x40' veiwing window for hours and hours.

From there we went to one of the four hotels hosting Dragoncon to get registered - didn't take very long and breif excursions indicated quite a bit of chaos :-). By this time it was getting late and we headed back to the Hotel. we decided to go late in the game so the only hotels with rooms were about 15-20minutes away - we actually got a great deal and had a nice room that handled all of us without anyone killing each other.

We stayed up way too late working on last minute costume updates, adjusments and such so Saturday morning was a slow start. Holy Crap was navigating the con a beast! 4 hotels with over 16 floors and a very confusing schedule - we ended up guessing for the most part and took advantage when we stumbled across something we wanted to see.

SO MANY PEOPLE. SO LITTLE ROOM. but everyone was really polite. Go figure - a bunch of geeks that are most likely used to getting beat up and pushed around. Everyone was super nice and as helpful as they could be. Lots of comments on the Steampunk outfits (thanks ysabela!)

By 5pm we were all DONE and needed a break from the crowds so off to the hotel and food.

Back to Jane - Jane decided that she was not being paid enough attention (we were beginning to think that we should have named her 'hal') So she decided to punish us - we needed a Walmart - she took us on a 45 minute drive to an empty lot. We found out later that the closest Walmart was actually about 7 miles and less than 15 minutes - guess she didn't want to go to that one...............

We needed parts to finish off costumes for Sunday. So we bought some of those old time alarm clocks - with minimal tools it only takes about 20 minutes to completely dismantle one and they do yield some really cool springs and sprockets. Ask Ysabela and Unseeliepixie about the attack clock.

Then she took offense that we did not take her into the con to check things out, so she decided to take us to the less wholesome side of Atlanta where I decided that all traffic signals/signs were actually optional because even I was not stopping. We all hate you Jane and look forward to dismantalling you.

The Con was really exciting so many people, vendors, costumes (good and train-wrecks), great people - the guest stars were all really great, very personable and friendly. Of note Lance Hendrickson, Adam West, Peter Mayhew, Mel and Wash from Firefly, James Hong, Ray Parks(OMG is he cute in person), Sean Aston (sp?), Lou Furrigno (sp?) among a host of others. You could get pictures or autographs for $$ or you could just go up and talk to them and shake their hand.

by the end of day two I wanted to go hide - again so many people, so little space. We grabbed dinner and a group decided to go back for the evening parties. I warned them to get back onto I85 as soon as they left but they got screwed by Jane and ended up in a similar area as the night before! We have all agreed that we are throwing a sack party for Jane

Monday was pack up and head home back through the middle of Georgia where the banjos play and the "name that roadkill" game is popular. Everyone was tired and sacked out for the most part. let's just say it was a long drive - when people were awake we talked about the costumes and what we want to do next year and who we are going to convert and drag with us. plans for upgrading the steampunk outfits.

I must say getting in the steampunk mindset does make you look at everything in a different light - like "if I break it open and take it apart, I wonder what I could use......."

Looking forward to the future adventures of "The Boss", "Auntie Social", "The Blue Raja" and "Ms Clock"....................................

You may need help knowing when to say "No" or when to stop sewing and go to bed.

Take The hardcore SCA Test at HelloQuizzy

Now we all know that it is typically a good idea to ask before just popping whatever someone hands you in your mouth. One would think that is....well Mr Man managed to come down with a sore throat on Friday night so being a dedicated, loving wife I tried to take care of him. So dutifully, I opened up the medicine cabinet and pulled out the airborne and handed him one. (for those of you who don't know what this is - it is alkeselter on crack - it is a rather nasty way to get a quick vitamin C boost - oh yeah and it taste like the bitter rind of an orange peel at best).

What does Mr Man do - he immediately stuck in his mouth. Talk about a priceless face - trying hard not to just laugh outloud, my statement is "that really can't taste very good". His response is a face that most children make when parents feed them lemons ---- BUT does he spit it out, NO. Mind you these things take about a minute to dissolve in a glass of water. So the amusement went on and on. Finally, he goes and gets water - now folks remember with is an effervescent type thing and yes - he just added water. At this point I am openly laughing my A%% off. Apparently taking them in this manner embeds the taste in your mouth for some time.

So the morale of this story - don't just stick anything in your mouth ;-)

I don't get out enough

Well - work has taken me to the farthest west I have ever been - Denver. Okay, I admit I have lived a fairly sheltered lifebut it was truly driven home when we landed in Denver I my first thought was "wow, that's what mountains look like".

We landed at 730 in the morning and headed out to find food. We left jax at 6am so food was a must - we ended up in a little dive called the Smiling Moose - great greasy breakfast food.

Then it was off to see the Museum of Natural history where they had a really nice Titanic exhibit as well as a nifty rock/mineral exhibit. From there it was off to the Zoo - it was 66 degrees out but felt more like the 70's. Either way all the animals were out and active. They actually had a nice set up for the critters and we got to see feeding time for most.

Find the hotel and discover that there is a outdoor shopping district just a block over. Found a nice chocolatier and lots of food spots. Had the best sushi roll ever: soft shell crab tempura & creamcheese for the base roll and then they added avacado and smoked eel over the top ---yum.yum.yum

Thursday was out to the country. I have discovered that this girl belongs at sea level. I am not fond of heights and the multi levels of traffic, the shear drop offs and the straight up walls were a little much for my mind so I let the psycho drive (my loving husband) drive - that helped sooooo much.

We ended up in idaho springs (8400ft) and the hot mineral springs there. We ate at a place called Buffalo's (which actually served buffalo) and then headed to the springs. It was COLD with 25+mph winds and snow flurries. After the springs off to look at some of the shops - everyone was supernice. From there to "Look out" point and the grave of Buffalo Bill. Kinda cool but I was very ready to be back on level ground.

Dinner - Garlic Stuffed Tenderloin with Gorgonzola Sauce - all I can say is "OMG"

Friday - the local aquarium - nice little place, got to feed stingrays and made a friend - he tried to come home with me. They had 4 tigers which seemed really out of place. From there we parked back at the hotel and walked to the art museum - they actually had a sizeable asian exhibit (husband is still kicking himself for not bringing the camera). Off to a little hole in the wall shop that is a tibeten importer. Lots of cool stuff and lots of crappy tourist stuff and from there it was off to Mongolian BBQ. You know you are screwed when there are white guys cooking (disappointed).

Saturday - scoot the guys off to the airport shuttle so they can start their 11 hour journey home. I headed out to the local college to take care of some testing. 6+hours worth of testing jammed into 3 hours sucks but it is done and I am that much closer to graduating in Dec (I am so happy I could almost cry). Go over to the conference center and get registered. One would think that people who specialize in planning could organize a little better (go figure)

My co-worker had arrived by the time I got back and we hooked up for dinner (yeah - Garlic Stuffed Tenderloing with Gorgonzola Sauce take 2 - just as good the second time)

Sunday - up a 7am - it is raining and cold by 730 it was snowing. Not florida snow, real snow by 930 we had over 2 inches. The world looked like a snowglobe - kinda cool until you go out into it, the "ooh-ahh" stage lasted about 10 seconds or unitl a big gust of wind blew the "fluffy" snow into your face. Got over that experience pretty quick.

Off to the conference until around 2 and then up to the hotel to check email, take a nap and get ready for the game tonight. When I found out I was coming to denver, I decided it would be great to go see an NFL game - so I have tickets to see the Broncos vs the Steelers tonight. Did I mention that it is 36 degrees out and is suposed to snow again tonight during the game (what was I thinking?) Oh well - it still should be fun.

Okay - For the past 3+ years I have been supporting a very busy production group. For the most part it has been me and a manager and thats it. Well earlier this year, we got a little help and then my manager quit. That was 4 months ago - holy crap have I been in hell.

I am not a quitter but I came close a couple of times.

Anyway.................

I got a new manager who is extremely cool! He looks like the Rock only shorter (oh darn) and he is a no BS type of guy. Better yet, he came partially trained so I dont have to do it.

Today he proved himself and made me his biggest fan. I have been struggling with my work computer - it had a whopping 256megs - nope I didn't type that wrong - 256 - and people wondered why it took me so long to do anything.

Well he was having none of it and called IT (who have been promising me an upgrade). He found out that my PC was so old it was not even upgradable and was on the list to be replaced sometime in 2008. He also found out he was supposed to get a new PC. He had IT give me his new PC! How many managers would do that? now when I click my mouse something actually happens, it will half the time is takes me now to do most of my computer work.

So - unlike leprecons and fairys - good bosses do exist - there is hope!

Okay - I had a fantastic weekend. I really needed it to be prepared for this week at work.

So I had Friday off of work and headed down to Orlando for my first Warhammer tournament. Yes, I know, total geek fest.

We arrived early, checked in and then headed out to do some shopping around town. Grabbed a bite to eat and then promptly fell asleep at the hotel.

Headed down to the tourney area around 9 to find A & N already there. Decided to do a pickup game with N until they kicked us out around Midnight.

Saturday came early with an 815 kickoff for game 1. There were a total of 120 participants with 30+ tables for the fantasy side. It was rather odd realizing that I was 1 of 3 females competing, so I was quite the anomoly. Someone made a comment that I should use that to my advantage and go topless...............

We got to play chicken getting to lunch across the street. Everyone agreed that the cars were definitely speeding up.

I have to say, it was a ton of fun. Sunday morning came early as well with another 815 kickoff for game 4.

Met a really cool guy from Norway, some guys from Virginia and then a bunch from around the state.

I lost like a big dog but learned much about this new game I have decided to take up. We got the standings yesterday, and I was happy to find that I was next to last not dead last. Improving for next year should be pretty easy.

okay - I have been behind on my movies so I have been making up for it

1st - Live Free or Die Hard was great, stayed with the theme of the previous movies. Lot of fun on the big screen.

2nd - Ratatouilli is not a kids movie. The movie is grown up good, not kid ha-ha at all. However, The short at the beginning is hysterical in true Pixar style - we have all know someone like the character depicted :-)

3rd - just got back from seeing Transformers. Screw Jack Sparrow and Harry Potter - this was an awesome movie. For those that know me, I could care less for the most part when it comes to movies. This one is great and a must see on the big screen.

:-)

He cares about tradition, loyalty, and order but not about freedom, dignity, or life. He plays by the rules but without mercy or compassion. He is comfortable in a hierarchy and would like to rule, but is willing to serve. He is loath to break promises, and is therefore very cautious about giving his word unless a bargain is clearly in his favour.

This reluctance comes partly from his nature and partly because he depends on order to protect himself from those who oppose him on moral grounds. Some lawful evil villains have particular taboos, such as not killing in cold blood (but having underlings do it) or not letting children come to harm (if it can be helped). They feel these personal morals put them above unprincipled villains.

Many lawful evil [people] use society and its laws for selfish advantages, exploiting the letter of the law over its spirit whenever it best suits their interests.

Some lawful evil people and creatures commit themselves to evil with a zeal like that of a crusader committed to good. Beyond being willing to hurt others for their own ends, they take pleasure in spreading evil as an end unto itself. They may also see doing evil as part of a duty to an evil deity or master.

Lawful evil is sometimes called "diabolical", because devils are the epitome of lawful evil. Other examples of lawful evil [people] include tyrants, corrupt officials, and mafia bosses.

Lawful evil is methodical, intentional, and frequently successful devotion to selfishness or evil itself.

Other Alignments and Tendencies (Tendenices are what you would more often sway towards; esp. for Neutrals):
0-39% Good, 40-60% Chaotic: Neutral-Evil
0-39% Good, 61-100% Chaotic: Chaotic-Evil
40-60% Good, 0-39% Chaotic: Lawful-Neutral
40-60% Good, 40-60% Chaotic: True Neutral
40-60% Good, 61-100% Chaotic: Chaotic-Neutral
61-100% Good, 0-39% Chaotic: Lawful-Good
61-100% Good, 40-60% Chaotic: Neutral-Good
61-100% Good, 61-100% Chaotic: Chaotic-Good

Link: The Alignment Test written by xan81 on OkCupid Free Online Dating, home of the The Dating Persona Test
